TRIVIA :
  • First of Disney's "Package Films" made in the 1940s, the movie is made up of 4 different segments :
"Lake Titicaca" : Donald Duck visits Lake Titicaca in Bolivia and Peru.
"Pedro" : A small airplane from an airport near Santiago, Chile, engaging in his first flight to retrieve air mail from Mendoza.
"El Gaucho Goofy" : Goofy gets taken from Texas to the Argentinian pampas to learn the ways of the native gaucho.
"Aquarela do Brasil" : Donald Duck meets José Carioca, who shows him around South America.
  • The film features the first appearance of José Carioca, the Brazilian parrot, who became extremely popular in Brazil, where he's known as "Zé" Carioca (short for José).
His last name is based on the Portuguese term used to refer to anything related to the City of Rio de Janeiro (where the character is from); while his original voice, Brazilian actor "Zezinho" José Oliveira, was actually from São Paulo.

  • The movie premiered in Brazil and Argentina in 1942, several months before its release in the USA in 1943. Brazilian and Spanish dubs were both recorded in Disney's US studio in Burbank.
  • American actor Clarence Nash is said to have dubbed Donald Duck in the French, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish dubbed versions made in the 1940s, using phonetics.
American actor Pinto Colvig, the voice of Goofy, has one line in English and one line in Spanish depending on the location - his original audio was kept in the 1940s dubs and in Danish.
Brazilian actor José Oliveira, the voice of José Carioca, speaking either in Portuguese or English in the original version, dubbed the English lines of his character in French, Italian and Swedish in the 40s dubs. His original Portuguese/English performance was kept as such in the Brazilian Portuguese, Latin American Spanish, Danish and Dutch dubs - versions that kept as well the original audio of Donald speaking in English in that scene.
  • Although there is no Mandarin Chinese dub of the film, the short "El Gaucho Goofy" was dubbed for a compilation of Mickey shorts.
  • The segment "Pedro" was redubbed in France in the 1990s for a Disney Christmas Special.

  • Before dubbing the whole film in 2022 for Disney+, Poland made two dubs of the segment "Lake Titicaca" in 1994 and 2012 respectively, released in different Donald Duck short compilations; and a dub of "El Gaucho Goofy" in 1996, released in the TV Series "Mickey Mouse and Friends" (1994-1995).
