  • This is the first Disney movie to be released in cinemas with a hybrid Dutch and Flemish dubbing, using voice talents from both the Netherlands and Belgium. This method was previously used only for Disney Channel series, such as "Elena of Avalor" or "Tangled: The Series".
    Belgium : Ariel, Ursula/Vanessa, King Triton, Flounder, Scuttle, Perla, Caspia
    Netherlands : Eric, Queen Selina, Sir Grimsby, Sebastian, Lashana
  • The original animated movie was only dubbed in Dutch, there is no Flemish version.
  • The Netherlands and Belgium retained the original English title The Little Mermaid, instead of the Dutch-speaking title De Kleine Zeemeermin.
  • Lynn Mancel, the voice of Ariel; Jonathan Vroege, the voice of Eric and Juneoer Mers, the voice of Sebastian, all played - at different times - in the Musical of The Lion King, as Nala, Simba and Banzai respectively.
    Lynn also played Nala in France, at the Mogador Theater; while Jonathan dubbed Simba in Dutch in the 2019 remake of the animated movie.
  • Edward Reekers, part of the additional voices, was a member of the choir in the Dutch dubbing of the 1989 animated movie.
  • Even though Eric's name was still spelt "Eric" in Dutch, the soundtrack spelt his name as Erik in the track "Eric's Decision".
